New Delhi: Weight gain, bloating, insomnia, allergies, fatigue, indigestion and many others may be signs that your body is asking you to hit “factory reset” or the “Detox” button. However, as easy as it might have been to just press a button and say goodbye to these problems, there exists none. However, you can still just detox in one day and help your body get back on the right track.
As season changes from winter to spring, it may be the best time to detox. According to experts, the time of changing seasons is the best to change your habits, clean your body and get in the right routine. This means not only cleansing your body by eating clean but also cleaning your mind by moving away from phones, laptops, television, going for walks and breathing fresh air.
What should you do to detox in one day?
Here is a routine you can follow for one day to detox your body – from morning to night.
Drink: Drinking warm lemonade as the first thing you do when you wake up. It will aid your digestion and hydrate your body.
Meditate: Meditation will help in the mental detox and help you become calmer and more relaxed. Remember that a body detox will not work if you are not calm and relaxed mentally. Meditation will also help you set the tone of the day.
Eat: A very important part of detox is what you eat. Make sure your morning breakfast is filled with healthy food that contains antioxidants. You can eat a green salad that contains cucumbers and spinach, or eat avocados and pears. Drinking green tea is also a good option.
In the afternoon, have a light lunch. Avoiding a heavy lunch is extremely important for a detox day, otherwise, you will find yourself lazy, and not in the mood to take on the rest of the day. Eat a light salad or curd rice to keep yourself light. Avoid any packaged products. After eating lunch, go for a light walk, and do not take your phone along. Remember the detox is about cleansing your body and cleansing your mind.
You can take a power nap of twenty minutes post-lunch and if you feel hungry after that, fruits like berries is a good option.
In the evening, indulge in a relaxing session like a hot shower, reading, sauna treatment, a good massage or anything that helps you unwind. The massage or shower will help to wash away toxins from your body.
For dinner, keep it simple and try to eat whole foods. Roasted chicken or vegetables are a good idea for a liver detox – something you might need after a party night of binge drinking.
Before hitting the bed, try a cup of hibiscus tea. Not only is it refreshing, it is absolutely healthy as it is loaded with antioxidants. It also helps reduce blood pressure, bad cholesterol and strengthens your digestive system. Make sure it is caffeine free. Try to meditate again or just lie down and thank the universe for the wonderful day you have had. Sleep without accessing your phone or laptop, TV or tablet.
